How do you know Jesus didn't provide? Bert's alive, isn't he? He has a mother who loves him, doesn't he? How do you know it isn't Jesus ensuring all this? Even these trials that bert faces - his struggles with alcohol and unemployment - only serve to cleanse his soul through existential suffering, and make him a stronger person.

You made the claim that he didn't ("not once did Jesus provide") in reply to Bert's post, so the burden of proof is on you I'm afraid. So, can you prove He didn't provide for Bert? If so, kindly do so now. If not, then simply lash out in a fit of rage and pique :)
