You do realize (almost certainly you don't lol) the passage is not literally about houses, right? I mean, you get that God isn't directly and concretely refering to a pile of bricks here?

God's 'house' (the world) is in ruins because of human egoism and self-absorption (their 'houses'). Is it clearer for you now? Or do you need me to simplify it even further for you?
