One of the greatest questions out there that will be a defining moment for the human race. Similar to what happens after you die, is there a God, and what are our true origins? The last of which I don't think will ever be answered.
But yeah, if and when we get the answer it will rock humanity forever, are aliens violent or friendly, do they even exist or are we truly alone. This will probably come in two phases first are we alone on a galactic scale and two are we alone in the universe because the difference in scale for both is insane. If we aren't alone are they similar in makeup in culture or different to the point we cannot understand them and we would be better off annihilating them. Even more bizarrely what if we're not the only group of humans on Earth and instead we're like part of some last planet/civilization that the bigger group forgot about a la Warhammer.
Utterly fascinating.

Imagine how crazy it would be to find out we were part of that imperium of man.
On second thought it probably wouldn't mean much beyond better iphones and conscription as flashlight wielding meat shields.

They're out there. The real question is: are they dumb enough to contact us? (Besides the reptilians, of course who are cold-blooded beings of pure evil who recognize and exploit our own destructive natures to serve their own ends.)
