I read the rules and the FAQ and they were helpful. Is there anything else that's not obvious at first glance?

Tripcodes are only useful if you will posting using a screen name, as they protect you from being cloned. Otherwise, it isn't really necessary.
There are somethings that may not be apparent at first, however you should be able to pick them up fairly quickly, as you read posts.
