Bert is only still in his hole because Syntax refuses to help his dear old netbuddy from 25 years ago.
Even if it's not money, he could have sent him to rehab or a specialist on his own money, but instead he only samefags as anon telling Bert to kill himself or to go to AA because it's so easy. News flash: AA is religious pseudo-science and has a success rate of between 5-15%.
So what does this tell us about Syntax?
1. He isn't a good friend.
2. He's a terrible liar.
3. He only thinks of himself.
Only makes me think how much he actually helped his other "friend" Ken. Probably just kept telling him to go to AA and walk it off.

I was ignorant about the success rate until recently and that is sad HOWEVER One must look at just Y the numbers are so low and let me offer what I respect as one of the best sources of information

So perhaps one should rite off people like bert as being so weak they should fail and not be a part of society? Wot is odd is bert kicked truly hard drugs yet cannot kick the bottle.
Now for OP to write off AA as totally useless is fucked cause with numbers like 10% that is still saying people do make it
So in the long haul we all get to see if bert is strong nuff by himself to climb out of the hole. He probably won't but then again he has b4 with hard drugs
Get him to splain how he could kick killer drugs but has a bit of a problem kicking common ordinary cheep booze

No actually Ken's drinking himself to death and remember he had like 12 ex wives who all still were in love with him and I met about 10 or 11 and there may have been 13 wives - I was not really aware of how bad his drinking was at the time
He was such a nice guy nor did I ever see him drink to the passing out or even strange acting point. Also I once attended a meeting with him with the CEO of a monster Music and Movie company MCA/Universal where Ken presented one fantastic business ideal with a full written proposal - CEO had open bar in his office and Ken poured himself a drink but never touched it during the presentation.
He was one fantastic Marketing Manager-Salesman
I have limited experience helping those who drink to much YET work wise back as a manager I was successful counseling a few who did make it work wise so that alcohol never again got in the way of their work - Really only one failure and had to discharge the guy who told me it was his business and not mine cause he needed to drink in his car at lunch time.
