wish i had friends like that. there's a pretty big hackrrspace in my city. i'm really tempted to sign up and see what it's like. at least to get access to all the equipment just to try it out. unfortunately, i'm terminally shy and need to build up my courage to go to new places like that.

3d printers are great if you want an expensive device that shits out brittle plastic crap. If you're looking for something practical get a CNC machine.
