I think there's more to it than that tbh. In the west you can't just say god wills it and we'll automatically go to war. There has to be a major catalyst such as 9/11. Religion is secondary.
The middle east though i imagine its orobably more of a factor but theyre still the same more or less. They want practical stuff territory access to wealth and people to subjugate. If religion eases that then theyre that much more enthusiastic about it.
