Postremus_Astrum.jpgIt is night time and you look up at the sky to observe the stars. You noticed that some of these stars are fading rather quickly. Knowing that light cannot fade that fast as we are observing ancient light from years past. You begin to question this phenomenon. More and more stars begin to fade to total darkness as you remain still trying to figure out why this is occurring. Your mind is full of hypotheses such as the idea that this is proof that we're residing within a simulation. Unfortunately, this isn't the case.

You notice that once the stars faded away completely, it had only been a good few days. You went about your regular routines just as you usually would while checking the night sky every now and again to see if any more lights have dimmed. You begin to noticed planets missing from the night sky. You question when the sun itself, our native star, will fade to black. Things begin to fade and evaporate into God only knows where. You were fortunate enough to see the demise of the sun, not through the scientifically believed way, just in the star vanishing into the darkness.

Distracted by these thoughts and happenings, you get ran over by an automobile. You notice that the automobile and the driver themselves have also started to fade into oblivion as you lay there motionless recalling memories of your life before you pass away. The next instance of consciences will be your first meeting with God himself. An atheist in life, you are overcome by great joy that an afterlife and a creator actually exists. You hope that God could forgive you for denying his existence and for other sins in your life. You slowly begin to walk toward Him as you see familiar faces long passed. The faces were those of loved ones long gone or old friends you didn't even know were deceased. You hope to rekindle old bonds and continue to hope for forgiveness.

God is watching as you make your way down the path laid out in front of you. You look at Him in amazement that he is real and nervousness knowing that He will judge you. You begin to wonder what Hell was actually like and if you would be sentenced there for all eternity. As you continue to make your walk, God points to a stereo as he pushes a button to accompany you with a song. The song Nearer, My God, to Thee begins to play. The melody held a soothing and gentle feeling and the lyrics were sung beautifully too. It was at this moment you knew your life was forfeit and that you really were dead.

God was getting closer now. You knew any moment now judgment would come. This was until you begin to notice that the faces around you and God himself started to fade into the darkness. Your mind returns to the thoughts that distracted you at the last moments of your life. You begin to ask more questions. How can a possible afterlife or a creator, who are both believed to be eternal, just suddenly fade into non-existence? Your question whether this was a sign that you are lost in limbo or actually damned to Hell. You search for symbolism and any signs to explain what is occurring.

You are alone now. Everything around you is pitch black. The song continues to play on repeat as you soon notice that you have started to fade as well. It starts in random locations on your body. You first notice your hands and feet slowly fading as if you were Marty McFly from the Back to the Future film trilogy. The song started to fade as well, as if your sense of hearing is lost. You are unable to confirm this with no other sounds surrounding you, except for the song. You come to the same conclusion, but you remain unsure, is this the literal end of everything in existence. In your final moments, before you completely fade, do you agree with your conclusion?
