Topic: I wish I knew how to uninstall this annoying RocketTab adware from Chrome.
+Catherine !TGirlYJKXM — 9.3 years ago #47,213
Google leads me to instructions telling me to remove it from Add/Remove Programs AND Chrome's Extension Page. The problem is that it doesn't show up in either location and I cannot find anything that explains what to do in this scenario. I have no fucking idea how the fuck it got installed.

I am glad I ran a scan. 23 malware threats. But why is the Finish button greyed out?
Also, this didn't get rid of RocketTab. >:-(

try to find if there's one app named "BrowserSafeguard with rockettab" in Add/Remove program

I double checked the Chrome extensions page as well as Add/Remove programs. I do not see "BrowserSafeguard with rockettab" either. What is interesting is that this only appears in Chrome. Firefox and even Microsoft Edge doesn't have it appear during Google searches.

Does uninstall and reinstall Chrome work?

I haven't tried that yet as I want to ensure I keep my bookmarks and extensions. I presume logging out of my account and then reinstalling it would do this?

idk, apparently gurochan has one as well.
what's more interesting is, why are deep web urls showing up in google at all?

Now this is interesting. I made three profiles for each of my three gmail accounts because I got tired of logging out and logging into each of them individually. I just went to one of my other profiles and RocketTab didn't appear. So I am thinking this might just be the fault of a specific profile.

time to burn that address
·Catherine !TGirlYJKXM (OP) — 9.3 years ago, 10 minutes later, 2 hours after the original post[T] [B] #512,098
Okay, so that apparently resolved this issue, I just made a new profile and logged into my main gmail account while logging out of the old one which I renamed to include the word "old". Everything including the extensions made the transition and now I can Google without that annoying piece of shit "addin". I think some data is still being transferred over though so who knows.
