It's where it is already written if you'd go to Heaven or Hell when you are dead and you should acting accordingly to Puritan customs because you have no idea where you'd end up. It's kind of a scary thought that you might have been hell-bound from birth and there is nothing you can do to change it.

Now imagine for a second if men like Bert and Matt still ended up going to Heaven despite not acting like good people.
