Open carry is useless, it takes away the element of surprise and makes you the FIRST target.

Guns are stupid in general, why haven't we invented anything better yet with all the trillions of dollars wasted on guns?

You are right with the open carry aspect but only because open carry isn't as widespread as it could be. If everyone open carried the element of surprise would not be there but you'd have the element of certainty as an alternative.

Well you're a commie that likes to steal private property and send people to the camps of course you hate anything that empowers the worker. Personally, I keep a pistol in my car when the situation warrants it and have a shotgun in my bedroom in case jamal tries B A GUD BOI. Ironically, even though I support gun rights I myself don't have a rifle simply because I don't see it as being an absolute essential in a modern man's arsenal but I don't say anything against it because I am not willing to give an inch in the gun rights fight.

If you're talking about the military budget I hate to break it to you but small arms are the least of their concerns. They've have trials once every 10-20 years for a primary firearm if they replace it at all. For example they just replaced the standard Beretta 92FS/M9's for the Sig P320's after the former's 30 year service life. Probably due to the p320's feature of extreme modularity.

Anyways, most of the money goes to payment of the troops, buying ships and heavy equipment, airplanes, black budgets, research programs etc etc. Small arms are a very mature technology that very little can be done towards the basic mechanisms. The best you can hope for is that once they figured out plasma cannons they'll work on miniaturizing said tech.
