Topic: i kind of hate living in an apartment building

+chili dog !!heHjtrQ7i9.4 years ago #46,724

so many of my neighbours are loud
not even unreasonably loud all the time but the walls are relatively thin

i miss living in an apartment that wasn't in a building with like 60 apartments with a hallway in the middle, but like a building separated apart such that there were only two apartments per floor, both facing outwards, and all adjoining walls were brick

but almost none of those are studios/1br and those that are cost so friggin much
i'm already payin so friggin much 658 for a relatively large studio
fuck

658 is a lot for rent in this city tbh
like not exorbitant but definitely on the higher end of normal

why how much do you pay to have a place to live

My parents are pretty well off so I live with them. Average rent is like 800 or so(anything less and you're with the blacks) so I basically save that plus all other expenses while I live with them.

I could get my own place my job pays well enough but here I have several acres, live in a nice area, ton of space in the garage for projects etc. Just so many perks that it's just hard to give up on for some shit landlord.

rural?
can't imagine not living in the city tbh
i've worked at camps and such and it sucks. i like having all sorts of things and people around. and driving to the city if you want to do things, well you're fricked if you drink because then you can't get back without paying for a cab back home and then back to the city to get your car in the morning
landlords are hit n miss. ime they're pretty hands-off and not really an issue and i think quebec has stricter landlord laws than most places (ie no deposit besides first months' rent allowed)

avg 800 doens't sound bad from what i've heard about other cities, whereabouts do you live

·Anonymous B9.4 years ago, 10 minutes later, 52 minutes after the original post[T] [B] #507,688

I wouldn't call it rural but it's outside the city by about 1/2 an hour. 45 min-1hr drive usually overall. There isn't anything inside the city that I care for otherwise I would've moved long ago. All I see there is crime, traffic, and lots of noise. I live outside of REDACTED, it's ok for jobs but not much else.

I know this arrangement won't last forever so I'm trying to get my shit together before I leave.

that's pretty far imo, like if you want to see someone in the city you have to block off minimum an hour-3 hours. do u commute that far for job every day

what do you need to do to get your shit together to leave?

·Anonymous B9.4 years ago, 10 seconds later, 1 hour after the original post[T] [B] #507,695

@507,690 (chili dog !!heHjtrQ7i)
I (used) to travel to different locations since I was an auditor of sorts but it was typically a two hour commute. I have no one I care to see that isn't 15 minutes from where I'm at right now.

Mostly a reason to leave but there are a few things I want to get squared away. I rather not get into the specifics. I'm in wait and see mode.
