Topic: Somehow I got my Xbox360 fixed

+Nugget Syntaxroll !Uvm54ORbmo9.6 years ago #46,103

Remember earlier I said my XBox360 RROD on me
Being an autist who can't let my precious toy goes
I check Check CHECK the console and power supply and cables again Again AGAIN
Then I found theres red light on the power supply which indicates PSU failure
Good news it is not the console fucked up bad news it is even harder to find a power supply replacement alone
So I fiddle with the power cables unplug it and plug it to other power socket I can find
no luck all give the same damn red light once I tried to turn on the console
Then I dun have any better idea so I just try the nintendoes way by giving the PSU a blow job thru its air holes
Then I plug it back in and start up again
Suddenly green light wow but before I can get all happy
The goddamn PSU literally farted out dust thru its air holes
I mean srsly I heard weird noise from it and saw a mist of dust got blown out from the PSU
I was like WTF MENG thought it was like some shit meltdown inside the power brick and it is smoking
srsly power brick smoking is bad sign and I almost gonna throw this shit down to floor before it explode
but no the light goes green and the console no more RROD
so I unplug it again blow thru the PSU real hard then put back everything into its place
switch power back on start up console and And AND my Xbox360 is revived
That's sum real WTF experience

I see them on Amazon not so much so expensive but there are other solutions USUALLY

On You really need to use compressed air - Compressors here in USA for car tires does the trick BUT do find any type of vacuum cleaner filter to help keep out the mass of moisture most compressors load up in tank - U no need water inside the power supply

Damn one look at guts YIKES what a crappy design as in not designed for repair but of course with effort one can

https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Xbox+360+Power+Supply+Teardown/19729

Betting the dust cross connected power to ground and you got fried dust n such - Its possible to blow out capacitors and still have a working circuit - Caps for RFI filters can blow n be pulled out and only effect stuff you may not even have to worry about - Even a power cap which makes for to much text to explain why supply can continue to function but long term may not be so good on other parts

$25 At Amazon and AND its a simple 12 Volts at a bunch of amps depending on your model and 5 Volts at low current so adapting one of many power supplies wood be super super easy

Shoot give me 45 minutes and let me pull out a car battery from neighbors car and I can slap on a charger from one of many tiny bricks in a box I have of misc dis and dat to keep the car battery charged and making 5 volts out of 12 in childs play but I wood probably just find a small old brick with the 5

A quick lookC and I suspect one does not even need the 5 as its listed as for standby circuit in the box which well who needs that anyway
