So they had to call the parents and explain that they unintentionally lured an underage person to have sex with the intent to apprehend a sexual predator?

If they did then they wouldn't be able to film it without the consent of the parents due to the child being underage. I think they made sure that the people were of age before telling them to go to their house by asking their age. Lastly, I think people who pretend to be a teen for a living, would be a good judge of if someone is a teenager or not.

If by lie you mean proclaim all over tumblr that they are genderfluid, nonconformists who later grow up to be conformist straight people, then I suppose. But I'm pretty sure every teen has lied about being over 18 when a porn site tried to stop them from entering.
