Up until a couple of months ago I used Qualcomm's gyms. They have many because of so many buildings. Problem is that when I used them I got bugged 75% of the time to stop working out and come help some poor soul in trouble and in fear of loss of job - demotion or loss of visa and Donald Trump fodder.

So I told another client they had to pay for me to do 24 hour Fitness. Joined a 24 hour Fitness Super Center that is only 4 minutes from where I now spend at least 2 hours a day working (Near by Cell Phone base site)

That tiny building is demanding on by body n bones as I crawl under racks of equipment every fukin day to stuff more electronics in2 impossible space and often have others from T-Mobile or AT&T trying to push their way in2.

Gym is now necessity for me to stretch all my body parts and get ready for my work OR in middle of work to run to Gym (drive as no easy street access) and hit Steam to soften up my joints and use equipment to end up more flexible than I ever needed to in the past. I thought all the Running n Surfing n Hiking made me fit nuff - Then at my advanced age to discover I need to be beyond flexible to work on my back every day in a crunched up space

Gym Good Rant over n out

PS Google is so far behind by months of need to redo this shot cause Antennas are now dark brown a very very bad color for the sensitive electronics inches away from them

Hey Def,

Hook me up with a telecomm fault manager gig so I can shut down a network or two. Don't need the job, but would love that level of access to a few networks, did I say take it down? I meant make sure it runs smoothly and be an asset to the team at ma bell v66.6.

Ah Ma Bell. As a Kiddlet I got my dad to drive me to the main branch of LA City pubic library and I often hunkered down with Bell System Technical Journals. Still available at major University and other large libraries or on Microfilm etc at other libraries - Truly the bible for anyone that wants to dig deeeep down into the bowels of Telco and that includes the early work on Cell technology. Bell held zero back. The two worst things I did and one was unintentional. I shut down every long distance billing for several hours - I still do not no exactly what I did that locked them all up. My intention was to only cascade my phone call to Europe country by country to stack up the delay and use it as a delay line for echo all the way back to me and friends. That sure worked but I must have made a glitch right at the LA Downtown Central office (A place I latter ended up with an office when I started to consult for what Bell called PBMS - Pac Bell Mobile Services which were occasional Analog FM transmitters next to the ham radio 2 meter band for wealthy business executives and not even a part of the Early Bell Mobile services.

I got this gig only so that Pac Bell wood send me to Bell School to get Certified as I need or THOUGHT I needed the Certs to formally show what I had already learned from the BSTJ that I read and memorized because you could not check them out and back then no copy machine existed as a teen.

Needed the Certs to get a position and that position is a story for some other time and I in a few minutes must go crawl back in2 that tiny bunker and slap in new machined Mechanical parts that one day will be replaced by a new invented Far more speedy CPU than currently exists - So its Mechanical Filters for now and for probably the next couple of years based on prior CPU development history.

PBMS ended up after I got educated in Eu Digital Cellular - Into Cingular Wireless with name change to AT&T - another story in there about how I embarrassed the supplier Ericsson while living in Sweden

> telecomm fault manager

Well let me think about the road to the easy way to this - A smile and a few ideas come to mind about how easy such may be - And how much trouble I could get in2 with law if I were to say what should be pubic knowledge re the soft design flaws re possible unapproved of Access. Need to think this one over LoL

Now ugh cause my body is ready but will be racked and creaky after I get my work done and then the Gym to soften it up and still squeeze in some more treadmill time cause I could not complete my 10 mile run 2day re pager yes PAGER I was forced to carry this AM - And that client will pay pay pay for forcing me to carry a fucking PAGER

Rant over

Obviously I wasn't really around for the ma bell days, or really for when it was split up, but some of the antics that went on are pretty hilarious. Not to mention it being the first real network attack, re: exploding the phone.

> shut down every long distance billing for several hours - I still do not no exactly what I did that locked them all up. My intention was to only cascade my phone call to Europe country by country to stack up the delay and use it as a delay line for echo all the way back to me and friends.

Damlol. That's hilarious, but as far as to the how? Who knows.

> Needed the Certs

I'm not really looking to change jobs, but on the other hand, it sounds like it'd be fun. And as a telecom fault manager, I'd have the access (authorized or otherwise) to accidentally shut down parts of a network, accidentally.

You should totally spill the methods, 1st amendment, it's for educational purposes only. Or you can just email me. I am actually developing an interest in telecom thanks to REDACTED and some other shenanigans, not because of the Russian government. That's crazy talk.

Enjoy your pager. Surprised they didn't force you to have a ptt phone too.

> telecom fault manager

So adding to this - The thing is - THEY the people who do this and it is truly a hot and hard and coveted position - takes a lot of people in each center and one hell of a lot of experience only gained from starting out in the belly of the beast. One usually starts out as a telco repair guy-girl who goes out daily to fix the most mundane problem.

Long story short - On a daily basis you have a mass of people across the USA dealing with some Construction project where some heavy machine or even a jack hammer ends up cutting a line - Might be just a T1 line or more often a Fiber Optic bundle - This might carry Video for a TV station along with Internet along with ordinary Telco calls along with what it takes to keep a Cell system going in multiple ways.

It turns out that when you with land line or cell phone dial up a phone call the over head system that does only that part of the dial up aka connect - That overhead was designed and has not changed one iota since the 60's.

This post - the set up to connect and all the routing uses the same system Exactly It cannot tell much less care if its a HTML page or Phone call or Video connect from point to point - It does the total set up and tear down and of most importance if you are Bell or equiv company - It has to be paid for aka Billing. Each post on TC ends up using this set up and tear down system and it has to be paid for n make money for what we call the Tier One operators which are very few.

If one goes into the Bowels of the Belly of the Beast Bell - One notices that there are patch cord panels - No longer real large yet still rack n racks with patch cords connected and room for a new patch cord. In some locations there are labels of a certain colour so as to let any tech/engineer no NO TOUCH THIS ONE EVER NEVER UNDER NO CONDITION

Those are the Military connections - Military and I have no clue but Military never switched over to using the Overhead system everyone else uses - Sure if a Officier uses his ordinary cell phone he is using the same system you and I use - But all official Military business by voice or OTHER MEANS is done using the Bell or equiv system BUT NOT USING THE Bell Overhead.

Military still does it the old fashioned way - In band signaling. Mixed in with the voice or fax or digital on the line is all the stuff one needs to do to set up tear down and dial another connection. Back in the day b4 digital it was in band tones aka Blue Box's or even people who could whistle the tones to do a long distance call without paying for it - I sure did it a bunch

Military still does it the old fashioned way - Turns out that system from back in 60's is kinda Hack Proof compared to the new fangled high tec system.

Key is how thin the Firewall is -

Ending this with the term Cross Talk - Punching through by over driving a line at just the right time to inject a signal not expected NOR designed for - Some smart person will come along and say but that cross talk is noise and the digital stuff is able to reject it as noise - True but its all about the timing - If one remembers that the Cisco routers and other routers have their own overhead that sets up the router its self and controls the routers plan of actions for the rest of its life - IT After all is just a block of hardware installed set up and will never ever changed until it wears out - but all the variations of how it will work and system it will work with are variable - and all designed to be remote controlled. 99.99999999% of time they are only set up by remote control. This is true of all the T1 repeaters - Still today when one orders a hard wired T1 its set up by hand point to point and is done with two people on the phone and maybe one hour to get this set up down for all the many miles one needs. Lots of variations as to how it will interface.

AND its just one hole in a design that has existed from the get go cause back when this was designed not one person considered any outside attack or hack. People just did not hack back in the days of the design - that design is hard wired and in place back then and today. Not even a lab I am aware of where anyone is working on a better design. So everyone has to learn with a very old design

Think of it like a Pipe line under the streets. Pipes the same today as 100 years ago. And they break most easy.
