Beebs got his laptop upgrade after a few years, so I think it is reasonable for me to get an upgrade from my 10yo Thinkpad T60?

And all the words around saying Apple is gunna push out a new model of macbook pro & air this month, so it's the best time to get the most updated mac machine.

tbh it isn't an upgrade from the laptop I used to have. The only reason I'm not able to use that one right now is because the harddrive fried and I'm too lazy to go out and buy a harddrive/replace it. This laptop is way worse than that one, but I got it for free as a bday gift so that's why I'm ultimately satisfied by it.

Thinkpad T60

If I posted the number of Thinkpads I personally pushed Qualcomm to buy in HUGE numbers and we sure did - I became a super fan of ThinPads IBM made versions

The T-60 as I remember it is well it does not say some very important stuff like many of them had Intel chip sets that supported 64K OP but DID NOT SUPPORT more than 3 GHz of RAM which is usually why one wants 64K OS

And like so many machines one could get One Core CPU or Two or more if the more were available so that the real machine with part number T60 does not say much - BUT if you have two cores and the chip set that supports more RAM?

I would have to ask you do you really need MORE? AND - Around here with so many gamer's who buy powerful machines and then want more more like cutting edge and sell off the old one dirt cheep here on Ebay or Craigs List

Seems while you are in school b4 you spend all that much money on a MAC - I wood look at my wallet and ask do I like if fuller or less full

Strange, my T-60 doesnt support 64bit system flat. I can't even install Lubuntu 64bit version on it.

And yes I need more. The T-60 is way too old that it can't even run XP smoothly, even with the Lubuntu instead it still can only handle basic office work at best. I could have get a more powerful windows laptop for cheaper, but eh I have one windows machine at home already (for all the gaming), and I work on Mac, I think it'd just be nice to have my own Mac, for work or own amusement.

One thing about the older laptops that were heavy - Memories of running down a hallway and dropping my laptop which had serious important stuff on it for the meeting and the thing was RUNNING CAUSE I was late

Dropping any computer with the hard drive ON is normally a full on 95% chance of disaster with Head stack crashing into the platters inside the drive. In fact lots of the laptops I bought for special programs at Qualcomm were meant for rented vans ( I am on a new program for 50 or 500GTE or is it 1000GLTE?) Lots of new laptops that will never make it past a few weeks inside the vans cause as they drive over simple man mad slow down bump things put on streets to slow down traffic the laptops hard drives will CRASH

Next week 400+ laptops will have Solid State Flash drives swapped out so vans can start to do off road testing of new cell Alpha test mode stuff -

No shit you have the super bottom of the cost line T-60 with that Intel fight for IBM market share and its criminal Intel offered such a set to IBM but of course IBM was going out of personal computer business

Yep you have a computer that needs donating to recycle cause it does have GOLD n Platinum n Silver inside worth real money

Now all that said - You going form such to a Mac? Unless you have come in2 much money? Macs are super profit making machines for Apple and the competition is cutting edge almost 0 profit like why HP can still stay afloat making them or for that matter anyone else

Also I have to say and it hurts to say this - I was allowed to put Win 10 on a computer and try that for a few months and then the MACHINE was taken away from me - I now have a new computer provided by Verizon for a project in tune with Qualcomm and it has Win 10 on it and I am using it to do this post

The day b4 Qualcomm took back my computer with Win 10 the machine crashed totally as like Blue Screen Crash - Auto report to MS and MS using a BOT told me it wood work on full restore of the OS

It took a while and damn I am fucking Impressed - Full recovery with a couple of minor glitches n now all resolved with a bonus that MS sent me a note as a bot that gave me a recommend that I install a small program n did and I was so happy and then door knocked with Qualcomm clerk saying congrats you have a new computer in this box and I need to take back the one we gave you

It did NOT have Win 10 just the mostly OK Win 7

But Verizon handed me this new Win 10 for this new project I am on and said if you want to step back to Win 7 it OK with us - I need to KILL CORTINA dead dead and more dead and replace Cortina with a prior tool

Well I got my T60 during an uni promo, I guess there's reason they sell their hot shit (at that time) that cheap to students :/

Ionno meng, despite that old heavy crap runs like snail, I find it perfect for install linux and fuck around all the cmd line shit with it (would never install linux on my battle station) so prolly wont donate it

Can only say you're lucky able to solve the BSOD issue with a full recovery, my experience isnt that pleasant. I got a 2nd hand i7 with motherboard from cousin, moved harddisk GPU everything from my old machine to it, start up and it immediately BSOD. Several tries later it simply said no bootable drive, I insert my win8 install disk and go into cmdline and cd every drive only to find that mother fucker fully corrupted my C drive. Worse I cannot just format that single partition to do a clean install, I have to format the whole harddisk becoz format prob etc. Loss of data. Welp at least it works fine now but srsly fuck MS

Yeah that new macbook pro is expensivef as fuck even for a 13" cheaper model but when it comes to investing on a new machine I always prefer to dump the money big and get the latest so it won't fade out that soon. Also fuck MS
