Topic: Syntax: MCA DiscoVision guy from Minichan

+AntcuFaalb !W48S2eY4nU9.1 years ago #45,681

Hey Syntax: It's the guy writing the MCA DiscoVision book from Minichan. I was interested in setting up a private chat of some sort. Are you still interested?

Also, do you still have discs stored in that storage unit in Santa Monica?

Magnetic corememory-660x495.jpgSo why were you banned from MC? I mean well one does have to be careful these days. Also even though MCA has been through some tumultuous buyers and sellers over the years since I left that Gig - Yea there was much I loved about it and much I am not so sure I want to even think about like that Music biz I got suckered in2 just to raise capital cause as Lou said - We use other peoples money so now go out and find some money - OK sure he was willing to let the printing presses print out stock but damn ever fucking day I was out on the hunt to buy something for MCA was a day I needed so many extra showers.

Thing Is I held on2 one hell of a lot of the original stock and took stock like crazy from GE. That stock is still in hands of Harvard Med school as collateral along with my Google and Qualcomm and other stock - Which I am working hard to buy back and could IF IF I just wood stop buying Real Estate - Here in San Diego Real Estate has been even more better than Stock Market for return on investment and you get to BORROW Real Money on Real Estate - 2 Borrow money on stocks one owns is NOT SO MUCH So Good.

I hate Donald Trump with a passion and intend on making a small fortune using Betfair in England -

Sorry to Def~Gress butttttt Who R U? The other thing is - I am not about to say the name of the entity but I own a chunk of Stock that I still have in my personal possession that as far as I No I AM the last sole owner of that stock which is TOTALLY Tied to DiscoVision in a very unique way. True I fear The Others finding this out and I am not so sure I want to venture out in the muck and have people making claims on how I ended up with stock that pays a unique dividend every year. Fact is I do not understand it my Attorney's have no clue and private investigation in2 wood be costly and offer no gain for outlay and at worst I get class action suit n shit like that.

Its like my Patent - Y on earth are quality companies paying me royalties when the patent is expired? Do I dare contact anyone one of them and ask? Its really none of my business but for sure I am super curious. Damn thing was for lab instrumentation which ends up in a strange way tied to MCA DiscoVision and in theory owned by them buttt they have no clue. I make it a point to not even talk to the attorneys that handle DiscoVision cause I again see no possible gain.

What you should consider is contacting Keith Johnson cause he is the genuine Genius and Co-inventor that made DiscoVision possible but he got totally completely screwed out of EVERYTHING. In the end they treated him worse than the Rats that still breed on MCA/Universal property. Tell Keith I sent you. David Gregg who I have not seen since ages ago - U should contact him but he also was totally screwed. I am the one and only person I No who ended up doing far better than I should have $$$ wise on that project. Hell I only managed to keep the cash cow going and had to do that in some need to take many showers way and still run the Tech side of companies acquired to support the MCA need to make Lou happy over loss of US Supreme court decision of letting Sony Betamax rip off all of MCA movies n TV shows. Time Delay LOLOL

Oh and what I have stored was moved to my wine locker in Santa Monica re more better temp control. Hell I even have some brand new never touched Betamax's bought with Lou's money - bet his daughter I share a name with wood rip out hair if she had a clue. I once even gifted Lou with a brand new Betamax in box and made sure my finger prints were eliminated by spraying solvent all over that damn box - let it dry and shipped it to his office marked as a gift from a friend of his so he wood open personally

I have so much luv an hate for MCA/Universal - Hours n hours spent at a subsidiary in North Hollywood and then hours at Universal office day after day week after week.

If U do really end up writing a book one should ask how any so called Optical Engineer who wood even clean his own glasses (drinking and eye glasses) How the hell wood he try and print Optical disks in a dirty workroom? Doors open with trucks driving by blowing dust. Shocking anything worked.

And where did I say I was interested re MCA DiscoVision book?

Lou not trusting ME enough ends up hiring some Executives who just sat back and drank MCA Booze day after day - One was discovered when office door was opened by security to have pile of dust all over desk cause it was like 2 years without even one office visit and yet he picked up his pay check every week - Another wrote a book on Servo's but ripped off everything for that book from a Grad Student - Damn fool dared to ask me to show him the math on how to stabilize a Servo with Negative and Positive feedback when he had not a clue about what one actually C's at the summing junction - Hell he sure new about the summing junction but only on paper - NEVER ONCE sat down with the most simple of IC or desecrate part made OP Amp and tried to make it work per the most simple application note.

My rant is over - I rote this tl:dr over a hour as I watched Satellites fly by on Telemetry contact and their health is well its something SEC probably does not want me to discuss OTHER than to say - All Globalstars are working just fyne and no one is going to get a call drop UNLESS THEY get to close to some buildings in New York City or Dubai

Two points of contact is not so much as good as the old Three points of contact. Just simple physics.

And this is a good place to remind the one person who read all of this - Modern DVD's CD's - Even when stored most proper will end up not working so much so good long term.

Laser Disks of old? Given issues like Ion Migration and Corrosion of super thin plated metals (vapor deposited)

Keith and Greeg's Laser Autofocus patent as applied does depend on not so much so many EXTRA PITS - True the Analog version probably has more data left than an equiv Full Digital disk - all things being equal.

And Y on Earth rite a book on MCA DiscoVision? Tons of people really want to 4get about that design/product/failure/ OTHER than of course it was/is what makes all modern Digital disks possible BUT NOW We all have Flash Memory - Solid State which of course long term unless used very little has its own Life long problems.

Seems like I wood be doing a book on Memories and point out how far we have come and how far behind WE ARE - Old Vinyl discs when stored most proper will 5000 years from now still play as New - I also have in storage a box full of Magnetic Core memories of various kinds that have data on them and they will be good for 500+ years - If the enamel from GE or Monsanto that coats the wires does not chemically deteriorate then even 10,000 years

Laser disks of any kind - Just a source of Temporary storage -

Who are u and how did you find me?

Photo of the first memory I ever had hands on as Design Engineer at Hughes Malibu Research Labs. Deal is - Micro miniature versions still are the memories that hold the Nuke codes on LGM-30G Minuteman III Missiles that tell the Missile where to go Nuke. Someone might say WTF? But even back in the early 60's the super thinkers had figured out how easy it wood be to take out a Nuke coming down at u with just a super Electro Magnetic Pulse - The Core Memories can take massive amounts of anything you can throw at it and hold up - Now if you OVER HEAT the cores they not so much work so good but even a bank of Lasers wood find that most difficult to do and when the thing is coming in at you like a super low flying Missile - current Radar not so much so good finding Missile in Ground Clutter - Hyland at Hughes however in the 30's invented a way of seeing stuff in Ground Clutter but not so much so useful to use for Laser pointer

Ramble over n out
I also feel damn bad about recommending a Hughes Pile of shit so called Optical talent to be top Engineer at DiscoVision Torrance

> So why were you banned from MC?

Beats the hell out of me. I only made like 3-4 posts and they were all directed at you re: this book.

> Sorry to Def~Gress butttttt Who R U?

Nobody, really. I have a near-complete MCA DiscoVision set with all good copies assembled by taking good sides from multiple copies. Side 1 from here, side 2 from there, etc.

I also have a bunch of dead sides of unreleased titles, like side 3 of Bullitt.

My buddy Ty started collecting back in '78 and died in 2014. He was planning on writing an MCA DiscoVision book, so I'd like to do one in honor of him.

> Oh and what I have stored was moved to my wine locker in Santa Monica re more better temp control.

Let me know if you're interested in parting with any of the discs you have stored away. I might be able to fill the remaining gaps in my collection and have more material to review for the book.

> David Gregg who I have not seen since ages ago - U should contact him but he also was totally screwed.

Unfortunately, he died. :-(

> And where did I say I was interested re MCA DiscoVision book?

You didn't. I just wrote the OP poorly.

> And Y on Earth rite a book on MCA DiscoVision?

It's literally the birth of storing things on optical discs. The history is extremely poorly documented and I want to set that right for the future.

> Who are u and how did you find me?

Just random DiscoVision Googling. A post you made about the Santa Monica storage unit came up and I follow pretty much any lead that comes my way.

Plus, I'd think that if even if you could manage to overheat the memory, you would probably end up overheating other things as well, leading the missile to explode anyway.

I need to think over a few things and will get back to you later in this thread - Phone call or 3 to make to see who is still Alive That said of what I have its not much in the way of Laser disks that you wood find useful. I mostly kept test Laser disks to map areas and problems and I only have those because IBM when all was shut down had no other point of contact person and once they got in touch with me they shipped all they had to me. IBM of course wanted to move to Laser disk storage and had some really interesting projects in labs with large chips that remained stationary and the laser was rotated with a Mini-spinning mirrors mounted on a tiny IBM Selectric type of ball. Solid state yet still with one moving part but very small. They shipped me a working breadboard because I was working on my own solid state laser memory and have been working on that thing and fear getting a patent on it as these days Patents are a tool for theft.

> Plus, I'd think that if even if you could manage to overheat the memory, you would probably end up overheating other things as well, leading the missile to explode anyway.

Back then I was faced with Engineers Reality that every engineer I had met and that is a huge number via Ham Radio - 100% of them got typecast. Company needs expert in XYZ and the next guy to walk in the door spends his life as Engineer doing only XYZ

The hobbyist in me demanded being able to jump technologies. AND DAMN when I was led to a real ready to roll out to Fighter jet at the Hughes Culver City airport with landing strip location I said to self WTF? This Missile thing is going to kill people in Vietnam a few days later. That small air to air n ground Missile had a small Radar system right at the head end and it was a cold morning and someone showed me how to heat my hands in the high power RF field - Ham radio background said to self Shit me thinks this could be harmful to body so withdrew hands and quickly WITHDREW from Military death stuff

Also parts used in Military weapons are very low and old tech and if asked WHY I will detail - Just not cutting edge stuff EVER NEVER

So I was told I had to work on at least one system and I picked the Minuteman keep base commander from going Psycho and launching a Nuke OR evasion by bad guys trying to take over the system - That was really cool however no one told me about Nuke Radiation damage on purpose to take out systems with EMC Pulse -

So Space stuff looked like my best next option and I was giving a huge choice of great stuff to work on that was not Military weapons and all used state of the art everything including the need to invent what is not invented YET

Or as the Laser which was invented on paper but no one could make one work until a sharp Scientist at Hughes figure out the physics to make on Lase

Mos Fet transistor was invented back in 1930's on paper but to make one took Science 30 years to mature to make first one

Space sure looked amazing but after one quick design to help fix a problem so a mission could be launched and THEY GAVE ME ZERO Power budget so I had to steal the power from outside the Spacecraft - but then could see me doing the same kind of task over n over n over for the rest of my life I said Fuck Space - lol So for decades in many ways Space has been my life but at least I am not stuck in rut

All this text to say - IF I had remained on Space stuff I wood have had no clue about the Disaster of the Van Allen belt and other belts quickly produced by In atmosphere Air exploded test Nuke H Bombs

In one year we watched 7 Satellites fail all of a sudden b4 figuring out its X-Ray - Neutrons- Heavy -Ions - Protons - Gamma Rays -Muons, Pions, Electrons and other Cosmic stuff that does damage to IC's Transistors and plastics that end up conductive and Gold in space can end up forming corrosion never seen on Planet Earth - Purple Plague White Plague just nasty up there

So it turns out the Magnetic memories could be hit by all of that Cosmic mess and not lose a bit - Of course reading n writing does require Cosmic sensitive stuff like IC's

@499,122 (AntcuFaalb !W48S2eY4nU)

Yea and not one person wants anything to do with any project because they came away super unhappy about the ending. It was the Movie Studio mentality - Any movie or any Album/Recording my MCA records that FAILED to make real money was considered yesterdays trash and UNLESS the producers/managers of that Movie or Record had another project going at the same studio - IF NOT they were Persona non Grata. Members of the public could take the studio tour - Former managers engineers on MCA Discovision were on the same list as Persona non Grata. The company had NO use for them.

Founders Keith and Paul-David Gregg were out before the Torrance operation was in R&D stages and they were not once allowed entry - Patent holders who were treated worse than trash. I had to sign a document by attorneys to never discuss my connection with Discovision with the founders. I took a few hundred extra thousand bucks upfront and still feel terrible about being bought by Lew Wasserman who every time I objected to anything dragged out boilerplate contracts and said sign this to ease your pain and then he wood had write in some amount of money - BUT it was never really money it was shares of Stock.

Downside of all of this is that every fucking year I sign a renewal of those contract terms and now my shares have been converted into Comcast stock (b4 that it was GE stock)
And even IF I wanted to stop being tied to ugly mean terms re what I can say in total about Discovision - All my shares are being held as collateral by Harvard Med school.

So I am working my ass off to buy back those shares as quickly as I can but I get sidetracked by buying real estate n shit cause currently one cannot put money in bank and make anything on it and its not safe to go to deep investing in stock market as one waits for next crash -

Contract terms on what I could really say about Discovision is - Wood cost me a fortune re Attorneys who are paid just for people like me to come along and make their day.

What did surprise me was everyone I talked to had brand new in box hand selected Discovision players and boxes of hand selected disks and people were so angry about treatment they tossed the stuff in trash without a thought that it had any value. Then again I have tossed some stuff that I now wish I had kept. I had a crate full of the very best recording studio modules - Everything needed to make a monster recording system that Dave Grohl would sell his soul IF I still had that crate. Its in a land fill currently

State of the Art never manufactured anything because MCA looked at return on investment and said fuck it. I let a bit of the technology leak out in odd ways so at least it wood continue to contribute to sound recording and except for someone who thought they wood get caught as stealing it from me and feeling guilty and they committed Suicide as a result for fear of embarrassment which was just nonsense - He just b4 doing that made the schematic public property and then ended his life -

Well thanks sorta for the memories - I took that super high paid consulting gig to make US Gov happy about transfer of technology from Super spy stuff to the public sector and Wasserman came along at the right time to have a project to absorb the need to have super high density recording - No one had a clue computers wood come along and needed Laser recording - US Gov had a clue cause the Spy Satellites first had to drop film cassettes from Space to be caught in giant nets strung between slow moving aircraft - Totally crazy - Huge CRT's line in TV's inside Satellites with film cameras recording as in Desi Arnez (Lucy Husband) Kinescope (crt to film)

All because no other memory at the time could match Film - That was at the time state of the art and US Gov new it could not come up with anything better faster and some public company with a need for it could and Discovision DID. Then CD's DVD's

Pixels vs Magnetic particles - Pixels will always win out of Rust and that is what any magnetic recording technology uses - Rust - just crazy chunks of Rust to make a Hardrive.

AntcuFallb - About the only way to keep a collection of the old laser discs or NEW CD's DVD's in mint condition wood be a huge room that has all the air removed and replaced with pressurized Nitrogen that is super water vapor free. Any disks in storage will end up useless like old Acetate film once used to make movie film prints.

So be advised that anything you collect from Discovision which was already loaded with dirt particles - Its going to get worse with time. Best you look into ways to keep water vapor out of the storage area and a very stable temperature. Oxygen is your enemy
