How dumb - They are missing a critical step and without it the hole alone will not work
One needs to Heat water up to but not at the boiling point - One does NOT want to melt the plastic. So about 80 degrees C or so and dissolve as much salt as the water will take. Use a eye dropper and pour the salt water in slowly until no more will go in. Then you put in the Male Jack and the salt water will conduct audio and even video to the Jack.
Silly putty can be used to keep as much salt water as possible in the phone.
