I've made trading villages before but far rougher than this one. I just smuggle villagers from a far away village and trap him into a 1x1x2 tiny house, with door blocked so nothing go in and nothing go out, and a single hole on the other side acting as counter and breathing hole. Works just as fine. It's quite a sight when you have a "village" consists of 30+ of these manual vending machines and nothing else, lined up nicely, waiting for you to sell him food so they dont have to starve.
