Ok I have this problem for quite a while actually. And no it cannot be solved with guns.
Since I have a new bigger bed for my room I lost some space for stacking my manga and game collection. They've been stacking on the floor collecting dust for quite a time already and that is disgusting. I've always want to find a shelf that's not too deep coz space problem, I want it just deep enough to hold a manga/dvd case without it sticking out. But no there's none that available in Ikea, all their shelves are deep and wide like a whore's cunt. I'm no master carpenter nor do I have the tools, so building one out of wooden planks isn't really a viable option either.
Then I remember this:

I mean, if a house built out of newspaper can stand for 90 fucking years, then a much-smaller-in-scale newspaper shelf is pretty possible right? And unwanted newspaper are FREE, plus rolling one up is simpler than sawing wooden planks. So, this sounds like a possible solution, no?

I don't know how they did it in the original story, but you could use fibreglass resin to harden stacks of newspaper or cardboard even... although you'll need some area that's well ventilated for that. Wood is probably going to be simpler and for your needs a 'floating shelf' might be the simplest route. It'll still require some tools to install, but it shouldn't be too crazy, it's not like you have to have the latest power tools and you can potentially borrow them from a friend or family member.
Or you might think about repurposing space or building an organizer for underneath your bed or something. Maybe an old ATX case or something could be turned into a dvd/manga organizer possibly? Idk. Try to think about what you have lying around or taking up space and consider if it could be repurposed for your needs, bud.

That'll take like a month to print though.

One does have to ask about FIRE. Perhaps dense compact newspaper when subjected to flames might not B so bad or?
Back in the dark ages when Dinosaurs were hanging around with me - First married and saving money for our first house - Furniture was for example the living room table.
A concrete slab with little decorative rocks on top and we sat it on concrete bricks.
With limited time could not find a decent example but it did look a lot more better than one in this pic

Are we talking about 3D printers or laser printers?
@previous (Syntax)
If you used a fibreglass/polyester resin on these slabs of newspaper they'd become flame retardant through satanic black magick, bud.
