I seem to recall that thread being much longer. Guess they finished archiving right after it was posted.

Not really, I was in the middle of making a post when it went down, then I was pissed because it was a fucking wall of text. C'est la vie, nuggets.

Be sure to hard reset your router every few months, and change your ID and password frequently. I had a problem like that with an AT&T router a while back. It was caused by someone illegally using it as a proxy.

The last time when it lost it's shit or w/e. Should've ctrl+c it.

I got my stuff locked down by Cox's security for allegedly seeding some audiobook. No issues w/ tribler still, but if Cox canceled my service I wouldn't be too upset, because they're cox.
Just replaced my modem... and it's a clusterfuck every time I talk to them.
First the rep claimed the modem wasn't supported. So I pointed out it was on their list of compatible devices.
He fucked around for a bit. Then he said it was for their ultimate package, which is the highest compatible package (up to 300mbs).
So what?
Cocks rep asked for the s/n mac address and then said the CM MAC address and then said the MAC address was wrong and should look like N1:66:3R:F4:G6:0T and I had to explain that no, it was correct, and directed him to the manufacturers website.
Finally he said he'd set it up and my internet improved a fair bit from the old Cisco modem.
It almost seems like they're just trying to dissuade people from using different modems after dealing with that Indonugget or wtfe.
The current setup is a Motofggt MB7420 and a Tendies FH1206 router. It's aite. Cox still sucks itself.

Yeah, Cox is shit. They don't even offer service here anymore. They did when I was a kid, but they were eventually over-taken by a local company, offering better service for lower prices.

The shitty thing is they're the fastest ISP in the area. My only real alternative is CenturyLink. :\
Although after bitching at them they did take like 20% off my service for the next 12 months. I'm okay w/ this.

Damn. Why do so many ISPs seem like they don't actually want people's business?

I'm my experience, it because they're usually the only choice you got.

When you have over 3 million customers you just start mainlining Sprite. It's not like my business being sent to a shittier service is going to hurt Cox.
BatNugger is right too though, even though we have options, they're not grate alternatives. Although I'm off to a more rural area in FL tonight and they have no options and basically get told to go fuck themselves. "lol, [try to] find another ISP" was pretty much the response they got last time.
