That's not always true, and you're missing the point of this video. A home phone is all anyone needs to get job. There are still plenty of jobs that don't require you have a laptop, internet connection, etc. Go apply at a restaurant, as a plumber, as an electrician's apprentice, etc, and ask during the interview if your boss gives a shit about whether you have a computer or not.

A laptop that could be used for most jobs, doesn't require you spend $2000 on it either.

Edit: Colleges offer students unlimited free access to their computer labs, too.
