Fuck the people who said they were overrated. They still had a level of suspense when you marathon them. I found myself rooting for the main character(s) only to be disappointed when they did something stupid. Sadly, I kind of wanted the main guy in the seventh film to succeed, I think audience at least has earned that much.

I saw the original trailer about a year before it (the first movie) came out and was so excited and then a little bummed when I saw it because it didn't live up to my expectations. With that said I still like them okay, they're not cinematic masterpieces, but I don't think saying they're overrated is an unfair criticism. They pretty much kept going downhill as a series
Loved the first Hostel, but the second one was rubbish. Not quite the same trajectory as saw, but in general torture porn movies will be mediocre at best. Occasionally one stands out though.
Anyway, I can't say I'm surprised that a person who enjoys torturing Sims also likes torture porn flicks.
