What tips would you give to induce sleep paralysis/lucid dreaming?
+Ducky !MwWb.dJjRc — 10.1 years ago, 33 minutes later[T] [B] #491,124
This is my style of syntax posting.
Im not good with SP i still struggling get it down. I know sleeping on your back helps, but i always roll over.
LD is easily induced by checking your reality all day every day. Ask yourself am i dreaming (just so it lol) before and during checks help and is easy to do it all day and ppl wont notice you
Checking the time then looking away then looking back is good cos the time will be drastically different when you look again in a dream
Same with reading
And take a few moments every day to make sure you have 10 fingers
When you look at your hand again and it's a dream you will have a fucked up number of fingers growing in strange ways . Lol
Start a dream journal
Now you can try and induce astral travel through LD by willing the dream world to collapse. do that and youll be back in your bed, looking through your eyelids and seeing everything but still fast asleep.
I didnt go past that step yet. When i will the dream world to collapse and im back in bed, i cant get my astral body to move. I can wake up n break the spell if i want to, so i know I'm not awake

that does sound like fun. I've had lucid dreams before, but I've never induced one. Usually, the easiest way for me to tell is if I can jump ridiculously high.

Seconding dream diaries as soon as you wake up. If nothing else it's interesting to track and occasionally there are some bizarre enough that they're really worth recording, but you really need to be in the habit to get those down.
It may or may not be valuable for lucid dreaming or as a therapeutic bool, but it's neat all the same to me.

That sounds like a unique experience. That's never happened to me. For me I know it's a dream if I see people from my high school.
I've never been able to manipulate dreams to my intended will. However, on occasion I have been dreaming and then realized that the regular laws of reality are not in play, but then as soon as I realize it, all the magical stuff stops.
@OP
Sleep paralysis is a bit of a misnomer. It's a actually a natural occurrence when sleeping where your brain shuts down all major muscle functions to prevent injury incurred by moving your body in a space outside of physical reality. When you wake up, your brain usually re-engages muscle functions, but if the sleep sequence terminates abnormally, you may become conscious before muscle activity has been restored, which leads you to experience what is commonly referred to as "sleep paralysis".

I usually just teleport to another location, like nothing happened. One time I was dreaming that I was being buried alive. It felt so real, and was scary AF. Probably the most scared I've ever been while dreaming. Just as the dude burying me starts putting dirt into the hole, I was instantly at my mom's house.

she's been declining.
two years ago she was telling me that the reporters on tv were sending her messages and that she worked for obama
a couple weeks ago it was that "they" were stealing her bedsheets
my brother said she was always like this but i really think she wasn't this bad before. never stable but not this bad.
i hate that i feel sad about it because i really don't like her. (and i know i'm not over it because a. she is always contacting me and b. when i am drunk it comes up Too Often)

I noticed that if i use the pinch method i lose all sensation in the dream so i hate using that one. If i don't use it i can still feel things.

I'm sorry, I can't imagine what's it like to have a parent who is like that.
I once dreamed I was expected to take part in this crazy dude's class, or whatever it was. He would brainwash people by feeding them banana bread and juice. I wasn't having any of that, though. I refused, but I didn't realize right away, and took a bite of the banana bread. I realized what was going on right after that, and had one of those squirting flower gag toys, which I used to wash out my mouth. I got the Fuck out of there at that point, but my parents wouldn't believe me and made me go back the next day. The dream ends with me at one of these classes, and there was this swimming pool in the room. I see myself climb out of it, wearing a pair of black jeans I used to frequently wear at the time. I just smile, give myself a thumbs up, and woke up at that point.
There's also a part 2 of this dream.

I understand, I'm nonconfrontational.
I was told I would be taking part in the class by my parents.
Ok, about a year or two after part 1, I had this dream. It started out me and my brother out doing stuff around town. Then we pass this building, and I notice that dude inside. I don't remember if he ever really gave us a name. It seems like a lot of what he said was like, cult leader stuff. Idk what happened to the people who were actually brainwashed. Anyway, I sign up for the class this time, in hopes of revealing what was going on. I didn't start right away. I went home, and told my parents, who did not believe me again. So I get things ready to reveal what was going on. The next day I went to the class. The dude gave his usual spiel, except he had noticed me, which I did not realize. As he finishes up his speech, he reveals that the entire floor was made of banana bread. Of course my classmates had already been brainwashed, so they start eating it like crazy. Then as I'm about to slip out, these two large guys grab me, and turn me around, to see that dude right up in my face. He said some stuff which I didn't comprehend, because my mind was occupied trying to think of a way out. Then he has this woman bring over a platter with the banana bread on it. He was about to force feed it to me, just then, a knight on a flying unicorn thing busts down the door. He frees me from their grasp, and the police come in, with a minotaur, for some reason. Next thing I know, I'm back home, and my parents finally believe me. The news is talking about it on the TV. I'm not sure what they did with guy, but I never see him again. The next class, everyone is back to normal, and there's a different teacher there. Also, Metallica was there for some reason. I think they were like security. Then my dream fades out, focused on me smiling and giving Metallica a thumbs up. Then I wake up.

I don't think I saw those, but I understand thinking that confrontation is useless, cause it really is.
I'll try to find that book, I've never heard of it before.
My relationship with my parents at the time was kind of Rocky. I think these dreams happened after middle school, which means my dad wasn't beating me, at least. He would still get drunk sometimes, and either verbally or physically harass me, or one of my siblings, sometimes both. So, yeah, my relationship with my dad was "I love you, but I also secretly hate you." My mom and I have always had a good relationship. She did everything she could do for all of the immediate family. She still does, I don't think I could have gotten a better mom.

My dreams are almost always governed by the same laws that apply in reality like gravity and no magic, etc. Sometimes though I'll have a dream that doesn't conform and I'll get excited but that awareness that I can do impossible stuff apparently triggers gravity and anti-magic to kick in and kill my fun.
Like, one time back when Harry Potter was really big, I had a dream where I was riding a Bic pen like it was a broomstick, but then I realized it was doing magic stuff and I started sinking to the ground. I kept thinking to myself "believe in the magic" but it wouldn't work anymore, so I woke up.
@491,147 (chili dog !!heHjtrQ7i)
It's a bit different for me. It's not so much an actual death, but more like a cross between an obstacle course (I use this term very loosely) and those video games where you have an objective to accomplish and it's game over if you fail to accomplish it. So basically my dream will loop back to some earlier "checkpoint" and I'll try again using what I learned from my last failure. It can loop multiple times, too, although that's kind of rare.

I do on and off. A few will wake me up, Don't ask what kind of dreams they are.
Sometimes the dreams are so real and I only become aware of memories 2 or 3 days later. A few dreams but not that often are so vivid - While out and about I will think about that dream I had - But that never happens the next day when working or with people- Only shopping or driving my car.
I am 100% sure I can remember most dreams most nights if I decided I need2, because as I said, Thee and GF - Just with One GF - We both needed to wake up and write down our dreams to share with Therapist. That was one at a time and never both of us at the same time. I never read one of hers but she told me after Therapy had ended that she read a few of mine from my note book. Did not bother me because 98% of my dreams are cool or nice or fun or even MORE - And so rare I have a bad dream.
As child I had one that was - Well will only share that in mail with friends - I used to fear that one for a long time and Until this Topic - Its no longer a fear BUT It might be one reason why I kinda despise a now banned long term banned former TC person.
