Topic: Getting over the loss of my mother
+Anonymous A — 10.6 years ago #44,444
Mom unexpectedly passed away a week ago in the bathroom and I rushed back from another country and saw them shut off the machine while holding her in my hands. Funeral service is on Sunday. Any advice on getting over the loss of a beloved family member whom I was never a good son of? Thanks in advance

Take an interest in her hobbies until they become your own. Then she'll always be with you in a way.

Many ways to choose to get over it. About a week after my dad died, I went and got a tattoo of a cross, with his birth and death year over the top, and DAD underneath of it. I will do the same whenever it's mom's time. It doesn't ease the pain of his absence, but he's always with me.

Locate old people home close to you. Go visit and
offer a hand of help to some random guy.
In religion this is called an act of contrition.

How is that going to make me feel better about never saying goodbye? Never having a last conversation .

But that sounds nice. I like old people. They're from my favourite time. 1900s
