Earth is a sandbox on hard mode though.
The world isn't flat meaning it doesn't keep going infinitely.
You can run out of natural resources and even man made ones.
And overpopulation will eventually become a problem.

That's stupid. If the landmass you were standing on had infinite area the gravitational pull would rip your dick off. Besides I'm talking about space too, minecraft is limited to like 5-10 biomes on an earth-like planet made of giant fucking boxes.
No Man's Sky is gonna have a whole fucking universe to explore filled with entire planets of procedurally generated content, complete with algorithmic biodiversity and evolutionary biology. I am going to get mind bogglingly, incredibly high and wander around claiming shit for tinychan. (There's 1 seed they used to generate the online universe the first time, but the actual game universe is so big nobody could possibly see it all within their lifetime.)
