Properly speaking the full title of this album is 'Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven', but it didn't fit in the subject line.
I've said on here before, and say again now, that the opening 5 or 6 minutes of this album are among the finest music ever recorded. That slow, steady build-up, leading to the crescendo of the horns, violins and guitars...just indescribably brilliant.
This long double album has 4 tracks, each clocking in at around 20 minutes. The tracks are called Storm, Static, Sleep, and Antennas to Heaven. Each 'song' is a journey into some very dark places, only emerging into a glorious light at the very end, the final beautiful minute of Antennas to Heaven, when the music cries up to the heavens. It's one of the most spine-chilling moments in modern music.
Also of note is the monologue at the beginning of the track Sleep. Superbly written, it really sets the tone of all that follows.
8th favourite album of all time.
