No I'm not "taking the piss", as the English apparently say. There are some great Britney songs, even albums, and to deny that is to deny the entire tradition of pop song writing. ABBA for example wrote some of the finest songs of all time, as did the Beatles, and the Beach Boys. Nothing wrong with pop music.
With that out of the way, Britney has released (I won't say 'written', because she doesn't write anything) 3 great albums: Blackout, Femme Fatale and Circus. All of those were released during her 'mature' period, i.e after that annoying teenage start she had when she sounded like Bart Simpson on helium. Sadly this latest one isn't up to that standard. There are a few good songs on here: the SIA-written 'Perfume', Alien and Chilling With You (a duet with her younger sister) are all classics. But for such a short album (just over half an hour) there's too much forgettable dreck here.
My advice is she re-employ the writing team who did the previous 3 or 4 albums.
Recommended only to fans.
