Topic: Album review #26: Tool, Aenima

Yesterday we re-visited their debut full-length. Today we look at fan favorite Aenima - the name an amalgamation of the Latin word for 'soul' (anima) and having shit flushed out of you (enema).
Many fans consider this their best album, and for sure it's a giant step up from the (already great) debut. Some of the band's very best songs are on here, such as Stinkfist (if not my favorite song about being anally fisted shoulder deep, then certainly in the top 5 of songs on that theme), Aenema, Pushit, Eulogy, 46 & 2, and H.
But what stops this album from being a true classic is too many interludes and mood pieces, which far from actually adding to the album-listening experience, are just plain fucking weird, and interrupt the flow of the record.
I'm also not keen on the over-rated Third Eye, although I love Bill Hicks, and the piss-poor Hooker With A Penis.
Brilliant album though.
