Topic: Album review #16: The Crow, Official Soundtrack
+Anonymous A — 11 years ago #42,855
The Crow was an early-90s film beloved of angsty teenage goths everywhere, and also marked the end of both the acting career and life of star Brandon Lee, who was accidentally shot to death during an action sequence.
The film itself is nothing special, though it does have (for that time) some striking imagery and camera work. But the soundtrack was top-notch and introduced me to a lot of bands I hadn't heard of back then. The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Cure, Stone Temple Pilots, Rage Against The Machine, Nine Inch Nails, Pantera, and more.
The real gems here are the tunes by bands who were not at all famous then, and are totally forgotten now. A great track called Time Baby 3 by the band Medicine (who appear in the film), and also the beautiful number 'It Won't Rain All The Time' by Jane Siberry.
One of the defining albums of my youth, I have a lot of affection for it.
8/10
