Topic: Album review #9: Blackfield

Most likely unknown to most here, this side project is a wonderful collaboration between modern giant of prog rock Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) and Israeli musician Aviv Geffen.

As a duo they released 2 albums, Blackfield (2004) and Blackfield 2 (2007). They are both very brief records, clocking in at around 40 minutes each, and contain some of the finest gems of song-writing this century. Check out tracks such as End of the World, Christenings, Open Mind and the achingly-beautiful Lullaby.

Stylistically this will appeal to fans of Radiohead's more accessible era, and of course Steven Wilson's solo career.

Very highly recommended.

9/10
