It was a typical winters day, hovering around Halloween. As i exited the train i followed my typical route home through the dark, wet, dingy high street which directed me towards an alleyway I'd take in order to save time on my journey. Due to my late arrival which was typically between 7pm-8pm the high street was unsurprisingly desolate which i considerably enjoyed as i had just vacated london an hour before.
However, just as i tunnelled through the high street i saw a man lurking underneath a tree, he appeared to be smoking, with his shadow looming across the concrete due to the light radiating from a nearby lamp. I didn't think much of this sighting until he began mumbling incoherently and striding towards me. In a frenzied panic i scurried forwards in a vain attempt to disguise my fear of this man. A few hundred yards further i entered the alleyway which was only half lit by broken yellow lamps and smothered in gravel which was buried under sparsely populated weed. I regained my composure and continued walking forward until to my astonishment the same man had inconceivably arrived before me.
Fear instantly paralysed my very being for that moment. With the cigarette still lit in his mouth as the smoke escalated into his black locks he stood there almost in anticipation of me. However i continued walking towards him as i had to pass in order to get home. Just as i approached him a conspicuous smirk plastered his face. I sprinted as fast as my legs could carry me as he chased with intent. As i approached the main road i turned around and he had disappeared again. I do not know to this day whether it was a prank or whether his true intentions were rather more sinister
