I speed every fucking day. I distill wine in my basement. I import illegal lasers into the country. I lie on my taxes and accept rent money under the table. I look at my phone while driving. Oh yes, guns are perfectly legal, but swords, brass knuckles, knives of a given length, tasers, pepper spray, etc, all have some regulation or another. It doesn't make much sense to me, but I suppose it's a combination of these items not being considered practical for self defense while having the potential to do harm. Also, guns have lobbyists and interest groups defending guns as a Second Amendment right, while other devices don't have such a loud voice defending them.

Hah, sounds about right.
Of all that you listed the only thing 'illegal' here is brass knuckles and people get around that with the "belt buckle" knuckle dusters or individual knucks. Automatic knives were illegal for a while, but that changed in the early 2000s, there is technically no limit on blade length, but the way the relevant laws are written is somewhat ambiguous. As for guns, well people and the law seem to love them here too, but they also love their knives, pepper spray, tasers, etc. There are a few limitations without a license, but nothing major.
