chinese people are some of the dumbest and smartest people, but this idea is incredibly stupid in a few ways, the first one being: how the fuck does this "dilute" anything? are these mosquitos quickly going to eat the other mosquitos infected with dengue? the other one is unfortunately, mosquitos can host a wide variety of diseases, dengue is just the tip of the iceberg, so now instead of people being infected with dengue they will most likely become infected with one of the other hundreds of diseases mosquitos carry

The mosquitoes being released are resistant to infection and will be competing with infected males for the same number of female mates. They are also sterile, so the infected females will not produce viable eggs after mating with a resistant male.

I don't think they even looked at the article.
@OP
In the US the FDA wants to release GMO mosquitoes in the Florida Keys to combat Dengue too. I remember the story from NPR but there's been a lot of public outcry against it because omg they're Dr. Frankenstein's monster mosquitoes.

Well, conservative crazy and crazy crazy aren't really compatible. At least, I thought that's how it worked. Did something change?

It's not so much a compatibility issue as a regional one in this case. North FL is more conservative crazy whereas South and Central FL are predominantly crazy crazy, which I think explains why FL is something of a swing state. These two forms of crazy combined with the heat and humidity appears to be the perfect cocktail for cults and weirdness in general.
The Florida keys really don't count since it's inhabited entirely by gambian pouched rats, cannibals, and reformed communist refugees from Cuba.
