Wiis are dirt-cheap. I'm sure you can find them much cheaper than $99.

And no, the Wii isn't a particularly good console. The motion controls were a gimmick that few games made good use of, there are hardly any good third-party titles and even Nintendo's own titles were significantly dumbed down for casual audiences. On the plus side, it does play GameCube games (if you own the first model) and has a vast array of shit you can do with homebrew.
