I got to see the medical examiner testify... so autopsy photos. The rest of it was pretty boring stuff.

I didn't get to see much of anything until after I testified and was excused by the judge. Before that it was just hanging out in a waiting room and sipping burnt coffee. I also got to meet some of the family of the victim... which was awkward.

The prosecutors are going after some much lesser offenses now to try and put him away. They were originally hoping to put him away for life. He's in his 60s though so 10yrs in prison could be the same thing. Hopefully the family gets some degree of justice, I didn't get to be there for the verdict but I was told they were pretty upset with the outcome... which is understandable.

He depleted all of her savings and assets then offed her for life ins. This is the second wife he's done this to. The family would have had a good case for negligent homicide after the state failed to get a murder conviction... but they can't sue due to an agreement they made so the daughters could keep the house.
