+Anonymous A11.5 years ago #40,730

Mardi Gras - Holland Parade.jpgLaissez les bons temps rouler!" is a Cajun expression meaning "Let the good times roll!" It strongly conveys the "joie de vivre" ("joy of living")

Starting Celebrating with friends with Japanese Bento box’s and Sake, 4PM. We will take to the Rose Garden in Balboa Park n next door: Fat Tuesday Zydeco mass at St Paul's Cathedral (Methodist) Church Hosts Theo and the Zydeco Patro, will be playing, it starts at 5:45 PM --

Yes a Zydeco band in Church to rock2 b4 during n after Mass with Ministers tossing beads, but girls do NOT flash at this event.

Then off to Club Tieo Leos for a Swing band and then to Gas Lamp Mardi Gras event as in Pic #2 -- There is a 3rd event in Gay section of San Diego (not going to that one)

Cities famous for Mardi Gras celebrations include Rio de Janeiro; Barranquilla, Colombia; Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago; Quebec City, Canada; Mazatlán and Sinaloa, Mexico; New Orleans, Louisiana; and Mobile, Alabama

Yet I notice 4 public events I went to on Sat/Sun in Los Angeles are not listed so check your local news sources for a party in your hood -Nor does wiki list the San Diego gay event

Belgium
In the Belgian city of Binche, the Mardi Gras festival is one of the most important days of the year and the summit of the Carnival of Binche.

Brazil
‘’’Carnival is the most famous Brazilian holiday. During this time, Brazil attracts 70% of its tourists.’’’ The largest carnival celebration in Brazil and the world occurs in Rio de Janeiro, where two million people celebrate in the city. The city of Salvador also holds a large carnival celebration.

Colombia
Barranquilla's Carnival

German
The celebration of Mardi Gras in Germany is called Karneval, Fastnacht, depending on the region.[10] Fastnacht means "Eve of the Fast", with famous parades held in Cologne, Mainz, and Düsseldorf on the Monday before Ash Wednesday, called Rosenmontag (Rose Monday

Italy
The Italian version of the festival is spelled Carnevale
Martedí Grasso (Fat Tuesday). It's the main day of Carnival along with the Thursday before, called Giovedí Grasso (Fat Thursday), The most famous Carnivals in Italy are in Venice, Viareggio and Ivrea. Ivrea has the characteristic "Battle of Oranges" that finds its roots in medieval times. Italy is the birthplace of Carnival celebrations, having its origins in the ancient Roman festival of Saturnalia

Sweden

Celebration is called Fastan, when you eat fastlagsbulle, also called
. That name comes from the words "fett" (fat) and "tisdag" (Tuesday). Originally, this was the only day one should eat fastlagsbullar. [traditional sweet roll]

Netherlands
Carnival (Dutch: Carnaval; also called "vastenavond" - or Limburgish: "vastelaovend") is originally an European Pagan spring festival, with an emphasis on role-reversal and suspension of social norms. The feast became assimilated by the Catholic Church and was celebrated in the three days preceding Ash Wednesday and Lent
Mainly held in the southern part of the Netherlands in the provinces of Noord-Brabant and Limburg, some parts of Zeeland and in eastern parts of Twente and Gelderland

United States
. Mardi Gras arrived in North America as a French Catholic tradition, in the late 17th century, when King Louis XIV sent the pair to defend France's claim on the territory of Louisiane, which included what are now the U.S. states of Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
The first Mardi Gras in US was in Mobile, Alabama in 1702 as the first capital of French Louisiana settled there.

ALL EVENTS will be in a 20/20 minute/Mile drive zone for me

If none of you can do - Make mental note for future because when people get together to have fun! You2 can join and become an instant member of people out just to have some fun.

@previous (On !Uvm54ORbmo)
to be clear....I had lots and lots of interaction with Sandy....she shared a thing or three with me that others never knew....but we never at all had any kind of romantic involvilvement....I will say this.....she is the special caliber of person that anyone who is worth a damn would take an arrow to the knee for..

that being said...I would not expose her to the off color shenanigans that syntax and I would probably get into if we partied together at any Mardi Gras celebration...

for example...I will insist he try at least one of my signature epic four shot cocktails..

I just failed to maintain contact with her after she got rid of the web community she once maintained...something I have at times deeply regretted..

Deeply regretted? Sounds like you know her departure was indeed due to you. Now, what have you done to her actually? Are you planning to do the same to ducky/triptych/kook/etc?
