No one and I mean NO ONE - Need take my word for wot Kunming is all about. You have wiki to read. Now if you want an inside view from the perspectives of people (White) from all over Planet Earth then you can view 1000's of posts and commentaries from Expats who are from UK Australia USA Canada and anywhere there are white people cause to get a job in Kunming teaching which is just about the only jobs Expats are offered - You have to be White and American looking but Canucks and those from UK without a heavy accent pass.
The search engine on the forum is Quality!!! Also this web site features articles about Kunming. For instance look up Air Quality for lulz. Or Sewage Oil - Because the people who run that forum do put up articles.

Matt by the way had a long string of Monikers and all of his posts are still up by you will discover he killed 6 accounts and probably has a new one? They spotted him as a untrustworthy Troll and ran him off but he was NOT banned - Mods did lock up a lot of his posts and those are still up for view.

And of course you can find the post where he says he is happy to eat food cooked in oil with fecal content because the food is so delish - Expats respond with how horrid sick they get so they do not eat the kind of food Matt discusses.

This I have learned from PM's (You 2 can register in seconds and send a PM to any member and ask more detailed questions. And I was not kidding re wage - No degree? MA degree? PhD degree?
$10.21 is the average wage for teachers. There are teachers who work for 1/2 that and a very few who get close to $14 /hr - The problem by comparison to say a Burger Flipper at McD's in States is that its possible to survive on Minimum wage IF one gets 40 hours of work - In Kunming no teacher is paid for 40 hour of work - Matt currently or at least when last reported by Matt himself - Teaching at 3 schools to rack up liveable hours.
You can also find him detailing exactly how much he makes weekly and how he is able to live on the very low wages. Expats argue with him that its just not possible to survive on such a low wage.
Again I can dig up that string of posts - You can find such yourself by using Search on gokunming and put in "Wages in Kunming" or "Teaching wages" I think Cost of living will bring up lots of lulz
Enjoy and report back what you find. Expats also love to talk about the BS re good weather reports and Air Quality. IF YOU ARE TOTALLY LAZY? ASK me for links and I can dig up a few - Other then the Married Expats who married a Chinese gal with parents and relatives in Kunming - They are stuck there forever - the rest and test me on this - THEY all want out of Kunming.

Kunming is such as depressing city...
Every time I eat Chinese food I s*** it all out 10 minutes later.
The food around here sucks. How much rice can you eat? Really? No wonder these people around here look like sticks. Rice with a tiny bit of meat mixed in doesn't fill me up.
I bet if I was in Manila or Quezon City, I would be able to find something to eat that fills me up.
If I stay here much longer I am going to look like I was in a Nazi Concentration Camp.
I also don't like the fact that there are no clothes dryers in Kunming. I hate leaving my clothes out to dry.
God this place sucks....

I have to agree. I hate KM. It is sort of depressing. I lived for three years in Beijing and now three years here and so I have some basis for comparison.
The food here is too spicy and oily. KM people cannot cook. All they can do here is BBQ on a stick and drench everything in red pepper or hua jiao. Also, if I say, in Chinese, that I do nto want spicy food that is what I mean. I do not want the cook to add red pepper because he thinks that is the only way it can be eaten. Any meal of BBQ or fired potatoes here is much oiler than a Big Mac meal at McDoanals, and my students eat that stuff all day whereas I do to McDonald once every 2 months, yet they are convinced I eat more junk food than they do.
2) The taxi system here is simply stupid and the taxi drivers (well all drivers) have no regard for traffic laws. They do not seem to know what a red light is unless there is a cop parked there... who would not do anything anyway.
3) The service here is abyssal. Grumpy, moody staff who cannot even look up from their cell phones when they wait on you. Pathetic at best.
4) Compared to Beijing (and it pretty abd there too) the problems with spitting here is much worse, as is the issue with grown men pissing anywhere they want.
5) The public restrooms in Beijing are free. Here you have pay and they stink more and have filthy floors.
6) How can people here be expected to drive when they can barely walk down the sidewalk. I have bumped into more people here who walk in a daze or simply decide to change course directly into than I have in my entire life total anywhere else.

How did THEY end up choosing Kunming? For instance Kunming was not Matts 1st choice. He only left Beijing after fucking up his lungs with Tuberculous.
Even when treated most schools around Planet Earth will not hire anyone who has had TB. So Matt left Beijing for Kunming yet there is listed on the web a slew of Chinese cities with rankings for quality of life food air etc
