that's not a terrain generation error. it's caused by a bug in the server or client that, for whatever reason, doesn't send the chunk data for some regions. if you log out and log back in the missing chunks should load properly.

if it was built in the last 3-4 years, you should be able to play, though the older, the more tweaking you'll have to do with the settings to make it play at a reasonable fps.
