I went to a ACen with my friend C. We were joined by T and her cousin N. I didn’t know either T or N. When they introduced themselves, N said clier chosen pronouns were clie/clier/clieself. I wasn’t sure what that meant but I said ok, I will use them. (Honeslty, it was really hard to remember but I tried)
N would get very upset if anyone called clier anything but those pronouns. Even con staff and hotel workers who didn’t know clier preferred pronouns. She screamed in the face of the front desk worker because she said, “I’m sorry, her debit card has a hold on it, but that’s why we encourage people to use credit cards.”
She called the worker “kin-phobic” and I asked C what that meant. She said that N wasn’t trans*, but that she believed she shared her headspace with a bunch of anime and game characters.
The hotel worker told N she didn’t know what clie was talking about and that there was nothing she could do about the debit card hold. N got so mad she called the worker a racist and left.
I felt really bad and I didn’t know what to do but C said that’s just how N is and that I should get over it.
