If I need something to distract my mind so I can fall asleep I stream BBC off one of many PBS radio stations. BBC news is so boring - reminds me of stacks of cardboard ready for recycle.
Tried the white noise thing which just did not work for me. Have friends who swear by it including ex GF who had sleep problems n solved by some therapist - Turned her bedroom in2 a cave. Honking huge fan which also subs as white noise of sorts.
