I've seen the same thing in my friends list on steam, and I don't think they'll be back.
One of them committed suicide 3 years ago.
Other one is a girl who lives in Michigan whose last words to me were "brb". Haven't seen her for a year and a half.
The last one is a German who suddenly disappeared for a month now.

Yeah I really hate that. I know what my friends up to. Think he's from Michigan too. He became some sort of traveling bum and would once a year update me on life. I love him he's great.
