"Nerds" is an outdated hollywood creation, typically shown as nearsighted Jews. In reality, the "nerds" were later found to be sufferers of mild cerebral palsy and autism. Meanwhile, from the 1960s on, the only US kids not scared off of excelling in school were kids of oriental immigrants, mormons, and the upper class who hived them off in prepatory schools.
