Everyone does that. You've just got to shrug it off and try again, shit, every social situation ever starts with a few awkward stutters. I've got to recommend a sports team though, it doesn't matter if it's ping pong ffs. I don't know if you've joined a team before, but just being there and trying and showing up every time is enough to earn you fiends. Getting physical in a group is a meaningful way to make good friends, seriously.
Imagine all of TC playing dodge ball and throwing the ball straight at your face and cheating and swearing and switching sides halfway through and being an asshole. But then laughing and posting about it for a while afterwards. Go and do that irl. Lots of people already do it, and new people show up all the time and are welcomed if they want to stay.
