Adams Avenue Street Fair September 27 Me and dancing partner end up on TV for Evening and then 28th morning news.Sure good great for Ego. Made no sense actually because the event was a Music Festival not a Food festival. The food was frankly ordinary. Nothing to brag about. Music 8 Stages and other venues inside all free including the parking.
So for a few seconds of fame WE that is Andrea and I are featured as the Only Dancers and there are 8 stages going full blast over the couple of miles or so which was NOT kind to the event!! And to all the other GREAT Dancers and that includes a LOT of Dance studio owners who are there to show off and get people to sign up for paid for classes!!
But they never get on TV anyway for free because TV producers do not want to give away advertising for free.
So we get picked. Me I say it was Andreas dress. She has a great rack which is good for the camera - may not b PC to say that but for TV producers it sells.
Yesterday I again danced with Andrea who is a far better dancer then me but I also am well known as a great lead.
AND YESTERDAY AGAIN TV crews arrive only this time (notice I can spell time ) Its different. Lots of Cameras roll in. Several kinds - BIG Cameras with long lenses like Studio cameras on dollies. And they surround me and another partner.
Later I am dancing at another stage with another gal. Her name is Karen. Blue dress so please remember the colour.
A Problem for me to share - I do NOT usually ask a Gal for a dance - I use the braille method. Fingers out and usually a gal will just take my fingers and that is all there is to it - we dance - Or as with yesterday I am asked about 50 to 6O% of the tyme for a dance. I always say YES except at key events like Cajun Festivals. Have a very different set of rules for that!
Now somehow and yes it was because of Karen's body language with music when I moved past her while dancing with another gal and could see she really really wanted to dance. Beyond Beautiful and again an Amazing Dress the Blue dress.
I did a very rare thing- Next dance I asked her verbally "would you like to dance" She jumped off of her chair UP!! Huge smile. That happens on occasion but maybe once every 3 months.
Its tricky asking the most beautiful girl for a dance because if its someone I have never met nor have seen her dance it can OFTEN TO OFTEN not b so much so good because she has had to much to drink or just cannot get into the rhythm.
Not a problem if she has never danced in her life because I used to teach dancing Swing Dancing in Santa Monica and other places once a week. Even got well paid for just a one hour lesson. Hey $150/hr 12 years ago was still GREAT Money and having fun while doing it nor did I do it for the money.
Karen is 22 years old. Later found out she is a dance major from UP State University. But classical dance and apparently a lot of Lindy Hop Lessons.
I also almost never ask anyone NEW without at least hearing the downbeat so I have a clue about the music. LIKE I WOOD NEVER EVER NOT ONCE IN MY LONG LIFE ASK A 22 year old girl to dance to Etta James "At Last"

Karen could tell I all of a sudden upon hearing the song - I got uptight real fast and she said - Hey give me your best shot (not exact words) but something to get me to relax- I did - Cameras roll up again and this time more cameras and truck moves in with camera dolly - Clearly this is NOT a TV news crew I have ever viewed at a Festival.
Other then the first 6 bars of At last WE had the Most perfect dance one could wish for- and NO I did not kiss her on the lips - Come on people lighten up! But she did press her cheek to mine when she could tell I was holding back.
One of my GF's Sharon was only a few feet away -NOT that she would have minded.
I got some of the best hugs and thank you's and kisses on cheeks again and and - So Camera people take us aside to sign papers for release so they can use footage. BUT and here is the kicker - Envelops with cash money in advance - a very small amount good enough to cover all food I bought at a great Food event because after all it was Italian Street FESTIVAL
So Do You all get to see me again on TV? Crew with all that equipment was National Geographic for their Channel. Something new they said was in development and they said it was still to early to No IF its going to be go for a series. Wood share nothing in details about the series.
Were we the only couple shot? No two others are in the competition and I have no clue who they are.
Nor does any of that matter.
Its ok no matter what anyone thinks on a chan for me to say for the 5-6 minutes of the song, I was in heaven. Later friends of hers came over to ask me if I wood dance with them. Three at a time. Truly an honor- They however all needed a first lesson which was more then OK with me- When a girl and they were more like 17 to 21 does her first dance - trust this - She is so happy she cannot contain self.
Ya guys who want a girl gal woman who find it hard to connect? Trust me on this - At any Jitterbug Blues Cajun even the ratio of Men to Women- FAR FAR FAR more Females then Males.
Latin its more 50-50. So Salsa may not be your best odds. Yesterday I had 20 to one odds in my favor. Did a lot of teaching yesterday.
