Topic: Would you ever considering cremating a pet?

We just lost one of our cats to acute renal failure and had him cremated. Our local animal control does private cremations for next to nothing ($40) and it helps support the shelter they have there so it was aite. Now the missus wants to mix his ashes with some soil for a bonsai tree as a sort of memorial.
So would you nggrs ever consider cremating a pet?

Other places quoted us at $140-500, but no, $40 doesn't seem like much too me. Maybe I'm bougie-scum after all.

The menace is upon us. Arm the cells, for soon we shall march forth to bring them The War.

Revenge is a dish best served cold, comrade. The reptilians will be anticipating some sort of retaliation, I think the resistance needs to stay off the radar for a bit, we need to lull them back into a false sense of security before striking. In the meantime we must remain vigilant and secure our safe houses and armaments. If they could get to Leet, they can get to any one of us, they were sending us a message, and we will send one of our own in kind, when the time is right.

It had never crossed my mind before this, but it seems like a nice alternative to just burying them. Although we passed on the urns, its cool that you could get one if you so desired. Someone jokingly suggested we take him to a taxidermist but I decided that might not be the best route for some reason.

I wouldnt want to look at the dried out carcass of my pet. It seems ghastly.

A few years ago, a dog that I had since childhood died at the vet clinic. He'd been waiting by the door for me to get home, he was over 15yo. I hadn't even considered cremation but could not simply leave him behind, so yeah I think it was over $200. I still have his ashes.
It sucks that dogs have such a short life span, and the last few years they have age related issues. I don't think I could ever get a dog again. Thanks a lot, anti for making me remember one of the worst days of my life.

Sorry for reminding you about mortality and bringing up bad feels. It does suck that pet owners will almost always outlive their pets (with a few exceptions) but of course there is the other possible alternative of your pets outliving you... and consuming bits of your corpse to survive
1 2.
Did you get an urn?
@423,923 (kook !!u4KQvs2JM)
Yeah, the fact that some people do it is bizarre to me. I don't have a problem with taxidermy, some of it is neat even, but it's a little different when you're emotionally attached to the animal I think.

It would be like keeping your grandmother's body in the house.

Your wife's idea is awesome. Probably would never do it just to have the ashes sitting around but a tree memorial is cool!

Now I wish I cremated my two child hood cats...but its okay I still remember them and feel close 2 them even if theyre gone forever :(
What do vets do with the animals they put down???
I wish we had done something. We just let my dad take them in the car and then not come back. One by one. ;-;
having pets is so emotional ;-;

I never would've thought to do it. I'm doing a little research on bonsai trees now and we'll check out some local nurseries next week.

> What do vets do with the animals they put down???
From my understanding it depends on the size of the animal. We were going to go that route if he seemed like he was in pain but he passed peacefully at home. Had we put him down, he would've just got a shot, and went peacefully and painlessly. I'm sure your pets didn't suffer, although it still sucks either way.
