I've been forced to find some other way to waste my time when Cat's minecraft server is down. This has come in the form of lists such as this. In browsing through page after page of this crap, I came to realize that society has very much become a hugbox where anything that could potentially offend one person is considered unfunny. Give me a break. You laugh at racist jokes. Laughing is the way we as humans have developed in order to cope with uncomfortable situations. When a comedian tells a racist joke, they do so because it makes us uncomfortable. We laugh, but inside it makes us think about how marginalizing people isn't nice. Why single out video games for treating women like eye candy? Why not comic books? Because comic books have been doing that for decades. Oh, comic books have changed over time to include more positive females? Well, they've had near about 90 years to do so now haven't they. The earliest video games are turning 40 about now, and a lot of them were geometric type games that had no 'characters' in them such as Pong, Tetris, Space Invaders, etc. So SJs act like video games are behind the times when it just takes time for the medium to expand its scope beyond the typically early-adopting male demographic. We're getting there, but quit acting like it has to happen overnight. Things can still have merit even if they make some people uncomfortable. After all, GTA is immensely popular, yet the entire premise of the game is to commit abhorrent acts. The market speaks for itself, and clearly the money is not in strong, respectable female characters who stand on the merit of their intelligence. The money is in sausage-fests where you kill a bunch of people and blow stuff up.Lighten up, nigger.
