Freshmen move into residence a week before classes start, which is a full-on party week. I don't even drink much normally.

Due to the dispicable work of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the legal age for alcohol drinks is 21 in most (all?) US states. The lobby group was able to pressure federal law makers to tie funding for state highways to state drinking age. The MADD is against drinking in general it seems. Happily in Alberta Canada, the age is 18 and students enjoy bars on campus and even on first floor of residence at the univerity, so they don't have to drive anywhere because they are already at where they live.
