It sucks because I use my phone 90% of the time I'm on here. The pic looks properly oriented on my phone so I have no idea.

@415,243 (M )
Nor does it make any difference when that happens. One click on pic to bring up the full photo always comes up OK
But of course far more better

Did you give thought to design and texture? Would love to see a pic!

@previous (Syntax )
That's right, I had forgotten. So Doc could have exerted a little effort to see my beautiful flowers. I'm crushed.

You know I have read that applying a mulch to the top of the soil does wonders to inhibit weed growth. You can buy ladybugs. Ladybugs are fun little creatures. They tickle when you let them crawl on your arm. They sell ladybugs and having a garden is a great excuse to get out there and buy a sack of ladybugs.

Do not put redwood mulch near your house if you have light surfaces. There's a fungus in it that specifically shoots its spores towards bright surfaces, and there's no way to remove the little black dots once they're there.

Really?
That's super cool.

·M 12.1 years ago, 2 hours later, 17 hours after the original post[T] [B] #415,281

Thank you guys!

I had put mulch down, but the damn weeds shot right up through it. I didn't know that about redwood mulch so thanks for that too. The area that I have the mulch is brick, but the sides are light colored siding and I would eventually have put something there.
All in all it's really been an experimental thing. I think next year I'm putting in flowering bushes and evergreens, then do a garden in the backyard instead of the front.

And I want a bag of ladybugs.

One could use X-tra powerful bleach on the Redwood mulch to kill them spores. Recently learned that there is a mass of good fungi on every root of every plant as beneficial, so a slew of Science guys/gals are going for gov grants to study this new discovery. They probably be pissed at me for suggesting X-tra powerful bleach.

·FuckAlms !vX8K53rFBI12.1 years ago, 1 hour later, 18 hours after the original post[T] [B] #415,284

@previous (Syntax )
Well, even domestos wouldn't be able to remove the spores once they get baked-on by the sun, so a pre-treatment would be the only option. Of course, that would probably destroy the reddish color, not to mention cause issues for whatever plants you spread the treated mulch around.

Yea as kiddlet I took some of moms red carnations n turned them white for science experiment. Beach in just the rite amount does the trick and does not hurt the flowers.

Currently with fresh flowers for inside house I use a few drops of bleach mixed with brown sugar. Bleach kills the bacteria that clogs the cut ends of flowers and the sugar feeds the stem. NOT positive about how well the sugar works but the drops of bleach almost double the life of flowers in water.

Reminds me as more grown up kid - best friend from grammar school/middle and sum high school. Marilyn. She wood wear a silk scarf in a color I HATED - Puke Green.

So one day when she was over and left that scarf I put it n water with wayyyy to much bleach to turn it white - Scarf and water started to boil rapidly and Silk dissolved in water leaving fragments. So of course I hit the stores and bought her many nice replacements - She is still one of my close friends but lives out of state now

Someone will use said info to dox me elsewhere as thief of friends silk underwear. Scarf for neck for them silly lurkers with no life other then net
