Your image is a little bit shall we say suspect. His goal was a measly $10 and link shows currently he only has $15,853 and its hitting Cnet and CNN which means it could go to you number - where did you get such a number as 44,845? Matt used indiegogo which is very different VERY Different then Kickstarter. With Kickstarter the campaigner sets a goal and donations are made BUT no cash flows from donations pockets - NO credit card charge UNLESS the goal is met. And one can see who made the donation and for how much. Of course at the end Kick takes its cut.
So yes one could on Kickstarter seed the campaign by self and many do put something in to start it off - but of course they no pay if no goal is made and they get back their seed money after the goal but with that overhead Cut!
indiegogo you set a goal and it does not matter if you don't make the goal as Matt didn't - And one and I have looked can see how people hide wot they donated as PRIVATE nor can one tell in detail who gave wot. Matt with his photo only put in $5 but at the get go someone seeded it in private - So no I cannot say for sure how much Matt seeded his own Con/Scam scheme - I do enjoy pointing out that with two honest weeks work and my new found In & Out hamburger joint - They pay $10.50/hr for a new hire no experience or Finish high school and in 21 days of honest work They make more then Matt did with scam in 45 days

yep and notice the sharp drop off from 1 hour ago so over the next 24 days the number could drop wayyy down but the guy was flown from Ohio to New York and is invited to multiple network shows - I TiVo good morning America ABC and he got 5 mins of interview tyme.

Bet when he went looking for it and could not find it again - which is wot many found re numbers that made no sense - Kickstarter made comments to reporters who asked and they had a very strange reply.
People by the way are pulling out money they said they wood donate as in cancelling so I have seen the number go even higher then now posting then drop back down. Keeping my massive hard earned $5 in.
